Ten warning signs that a young child is probably going to eventually end up in therapy


1. The child drools uncontrollably.

2. The child wakes up at odd hours during the night, and sleeps for long stretches during the day. This is an especially troubling sign during the first year of life.

3. The child has peculiar eating habits—for example, preferring to eat breakfast cereal for every meal.

4. The child’s diaper shows signs of having been urinated in.

5. The child cries when left in the care of someone other than the child’s mother.

6. The child uses crayons or markers to create meaningless, jagged scribbles.

7. The child has difficulty enunciating properly.

8. The child walks with difficulty, or not at all.

9. The child holds books upside down.

10. The child does not protest when clad in a pair of Crocs.
