Is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas movie, or a Halloween movie? Based on the fact that it’s told from the perspective of Halloween Town, I’m going to definitively say a Halloween movie…but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with bringing a little Nightmare into your Christmas, as long as Santa’s willing to sort everything out in the end.

A new Nightmare Before Christmas Advent calendar from Insight Editions is a book-within-a-book. The outer book opens to reveal a pop-up tree with copious branches to hang the little ornaments that come out of numbered compartments for each day from December 1 through 25; the inner book tells the story of Tim Burton’s classic and identifies the characters.

Is it awesome? I honestly don’t know how it could not be, but I’ll note that it’s more durable than you might expect, reasonably reusable for several holiday seasons…as long as your ghost dog doesn’t get a hold of it. You can see for yourself in this TikTok.
