The Internet didn’t choose cats, it chose women with salad

According to a widely-read Thought Catalog essay by Leigh Alexander, the Internet chose cats. Alexander makes a convincing case, but think the cats have competition from women with salad.

Stock photos of women laughing alone with salad have already been paid homage by Edith Zimmerman on The Hairpin, but it turns out Zimmerman hardly scratched the surface. Trying to find a photo of Julia Roberts eating salad to illustrate a Daily Planet blog post mentioning the dinner scene in Pretty Woman, I Googled “pretty woman salad”…and just look at what turned up.

I’m starting to suspect there’s an iceberg—so to speak—of women with salad just waiting online to smother us all in mad, mad rabbit food.
